Default So many 045 in the last 10 days or so....Anet ?

THIS IS NOT A COMPLAIN BUT AN OBSERVATION ON THE CURRENT 045 TREND OF THE LAST FEW DAYS

So one day as I wake up, preparing for last festival....BAM.. I was 045ed.

Even if I always play by the rules.....well you know...you always wonder why, if you did anything that could had lead to that etc. Still no clues why.

Support told me they where sorry and unblocked my account back.

Why am I making this tread you may ask ? 10+ of my top players , mates , legit players where 045ed in the last 10 days and all got the same answer from support : We are sry.

What happened ? Even here on the forum there have been allot in the last few days. New employee ? Maybe an old employee they had to let go and went berserk ?

Last time when I noticed such a trend in the community even Gaile came over and said she was sorry about all the fuzz.

What you guys think about the last week Banning Bonanza ?

If this "Banning Bonanza" was as big as you say; then we would have had more than two, "I was banned!" threads.

Tough luck is generally the answer you'll get.

Not sure it's related, but it was posted last week and other bot/gold seller purges have resulted in "false positives" in the past.

Yea, I would be really pissed if I got hit with the ban stick seeing as how I don't even use textmods or buy unid'd golds. I would also be pissed if all I got was a 'oops my bad'. Hopefully this will settle down before more innocent people get banned (not saying anyone's innocent or not, just seems like lots of ppl get banned and get their accounts back meaning there was no reason for a ban in the first place)

Arenanet's a company. They're far from perfect. What else do you want them them to do aside from apologize? Send you a gift basket?

At least they're trying. Maybe not doing well, but trying.

Your friends were likely guilty. They must have had some e-bay purchased gold that they distributed. To a.net, it looked like a laundring scheme.

From my perspective, and I have access to Support records, there's no "banning bonanza." Occasionally, and quite rarely, a player is erroneously blocked. A quick ticket, a prompt response, and all is well. When you have 4,000,000 accounts (and more!) and tens of thousands upon tens of thousands playing at any given hour, I don't see a cause for alarm in current trends.

With an eye on keeping the game world a good place to be, and assuring that we stem the tide of bot users, exploiters, and gold sellers (whose sales affect the prices you pay in game), I don't know that we can ever be flawless. But then, I don't know any human-operated system that is flawless. Of course, we regret any errors, and make as quick an amendment of those errors as we can. I think that's really the best that we (or any company) can offer.

Thank you,

I have no problem if it is just a mistake and all my accounts come back as they were before. I understand the problem and how hard it must be to deal with this large issue.

It is just tough on my hubbie and I to make it through this part that requires waiting to see if every character is in tact and all my stuff is still there and my survivors have not died. I am biting my nails here and praying.

Thanks for paying attention to us and hearing us, Gaile.

There's been quite a few, around 3 or 4 in Q and A also.

If you were banned by accident and Anet offers to unban you with an apology I think its worth the THOUSANDS of bots that are also banned.

I have to agree it is possibly going to happen the wrong person gets removed and as long as there is quick turnaround and an apology for the removal once it was clear it was unjust I am fine with it. As a company that is hearing the community continually complain about bots and cheats/exploits, I dont think any of us should get over flamed up about getting removed and reinstated in a timely matter if it was just accidental, yes it sucks, but better that they do that, then let the masses of others they got right run rampant

I am not accusing anyone of anything but,

People are bored and they start doing stuff they wouldn't have ever thought of doing before. Next thing you know, blammo!

I couldn't agree more with this poster.

Plus, to be frank on the matter at hand, for a company to have such a great support system as Anet's support system, where they're WILLING to admit a mistake has been made and will try and make things right again, is pretty frakking rare. If you're guility on the matter, they're not going to let you back in. Send a ticket to support, explain the situation, time, dates, district, etc, and they'll look into it. Everytime i've ever had a problem with GWs, Anet support always surprised me on how fast they get back to you.

End of discussion.

They made a mistake. 100% of companies do.

I thought I made a mistake once, but it just turned out to be an error on my part.

Anyway......

Back in the day I ran Ghost Recon Server and sometimes we were forced to issue ip range bans to nail a cheater/jerk wad. If I was PMed on the clan site by someone caught in the range asking to get the ban removed I did, and apologized. It happens, and your account is back, move on.

What? How are texmod and unid golds related to being banned?

Neither are, I think Gaile said a long time ago you wouldn't be held responsible for buying unid's.
